Yelp is getting into the shopping game. Sort of. Yelp has recently unleashed its “Request a Quote” function to its business page owners, making it easy for Yelper’s to request a quote from multiple nearby businesses at the same time. When request a quote is clicked, similar businesses are automatically listed and selected beneath the quote message window, allowing Yelper’s to unselect the providers they do not wish to receive a quote from.
According to Yelp, request a quote has been a positive move for businesses and consumers, especially in the home services category:
We’re already seeing how the Request a Quote feature is changing the game for both consumers and business owners. Since changing the name of this messaging feature from “Message The Business” to “Request A Quote” in some categories late last year, we’ve seen:
- Message response rates from business owners increase 250%
- Over half of messages from potential customers were responded to within 24 hours
- Messaging in the Home Services category increase 1500%
